For a long time,bearing ring is mainly produced by empirical method or trialmethod,which mechanism is to use different shapes and sizes roughcasts to producering until sizes of the products meet the requirements.This design method consumeslarge amounts of human manpower and material resources to debug blank andmould,and has disadvantages of high cost and low efficiency.The method can’t meetthe requirements of high production,high efficiency,high quality and low consumption.so it is urgent to promote hot ring rolling technical innovation.With the development of computers, numerical simulation analysis are widelyused in the research on metal bulk forming.The analyzing results can provide reliabletheoretical basis for defect’prediction and elimination, technological parameters’selection and mould’optimization.In this paper,finite element technologies are appliedinto hot ring rolling process of bearing ring to research hot ring rolling rules and sunkdefect.The main researches and results of this paper are as follows:The design principles of roughcast,driveroller and coreroller are described indetail,and the craft parameters of rolling30314-type tapered roller bearing outer ringare determined.Based on the platform of finite element software DEFORM-3D,the hot ringrolling FE models of tapered roller bearing ring have successfully beenestablished.And some key technology problems often encountering in FE modelinghave been discussed in detail.Through simulation and analysis of hot ring rollingprocess,the laws of change have been disclosed for ovality,sunk defect,equivalentstrain and rolling force. It is found that ovality firstly increases and thendecreases.Sunk defect primarily generates on the outer surface of small end ofring,and increases gradually with the rolling process.Plastically deforming area iszonal distribution,and the strain in inner-layer and outer-layer is larger than the strainin middle-layer.Based on the multi-parameters sensitivity analysis method, the sensitivity of suchinfluential parameters of sunk defect as blank inner diameter, raceway angle,rib heightand coreroller diameter were analyzed.The results show that blank inner diameter andraceway angle are the most sensitivity parameters of sunk defect. Therefore it’s shouldbe particularly careful to design blank inner diameter and raceway angle.Based on MATLAB software,linear regression analysis of sunk defect height between blank inner diameter and raceway angle was conducted.The regressioncoefficients are calculated and the linear regression equation is obtained, whichprovides an important theoretical basis for blank optimization design.
