Lacquer furniture plays an important role in Chinese traditional furniture, and it’s anindispensable part. Compared to mahogany furniture the materials of lacquer furniture waseasier to get cheaper, that made lacquer furniture survive the shock of mahogany furniture.In this research, Sichuan traditional lacquer furniture was appointed as the object of study.The whole paper starts with the study on the development of Sichuan traditional lacquerfurniture, then goes to the reasons of prosperty. The researches show that geographicalcircumstance, natural resources and lacquer performance make the lacquer furniture thrive inSichuan, as long as the local cultural. The categories, technical and decorative features ofSichuan traditional lacquer furniture were researched by field survey. It shows that it can beclassified in five broad, seats, beds, desks, decorations and installations, according to how theyare used. Materials, structures and painting crafts form the technical features. The commonmaterial are nanmu, wenge, cedarwood, pine and boxwood. The common structures are mortiseand tenon, nail, glue and hardware. The traditional lacquer painting technology processes arebase treatment, assembling, lacquer purification and painting. Painting decoration and patternsmake up the decorative feature. The common painting methods are one-color painting, colorpaiting, carved-and-filled-in and mosaic, while geometrical pattern, plant pattern, object patternand character pattern build the regional patterns.Comparing Sichuan traditional furniture with other typical local lacquer furniture based onthe theoretical investigation and investigate, it shows that little variety, fine art, unrulydecoration and simplity are the main regional features of Sichuan traditional lacquer furniture.
