With the rapid development of science and technology progress and machinery manufacturing industry, the demand for castings in the world has been increased significantly. And the development trend of economic integration and globalization procurement of casting has led to intensified competition of casting products. In this situation, the quality of castings and the cost of production has become the most key factor to determine the enterprise whether it can win in the competition and sustainable development or not.Through the research and the summary to the domestic and foreign quality management and continuous improvement method we found that, due to the characteristics of foundry industry, it is very difficult to achieve the quality improvement fundamentally using only one method. To achieve the desired effect, we have to use a comprehensive quality management method to improve the overall quality of management based on the actual production situation of enterprises. Through the deep analysis of the current situation of casting quality and the quality management problems in TR Company, such as existence weak points existed in quality management, the fluctuation of quality, the key minority product quality defects restricts the overall quality level. So the comprehensive improvement programs for casting quality of whole company have been made. First solution is using the total quality management methods to optimize weakness points of casting quality. The second solution is using the6SIGMA method to solve the problem of key minority defects influenced quality. At last, some supporting actions for these solutions are proposed, such as process improvement, quality management organization structure adjustment, improving continuous improvement system, performance appraisal system establishment etc.This paper mainly used the literature studying method comprehensive study on the quality problems of SPC statistical analysis method, comparative method, simulation test etc in the problem solving process. The CE1value control was been put forward by using hot metal smelting process quality control methods to replace the traditional calculation method, proposed a creative scheme only identity production scheduling info compatibility table, an unique identification scheme of product traceability and a innovation idea of solving problems by feeding to solve the gas defect of crankshaft. Taking an example of solving choking defect for six-cylinder crankshaft in the paper, the improvement programs are implemented. First of all, using the theory of6SIGMA to collect customer requirements and quality data and through the SPC statistical analysis tools to find out the important factors influencing the quality of the products, and finally the solution is determined. Then, the improvement method of Six Sigma is used to solve the choking defect as one of key minority defects successfully.Through the research of this paper, the casting quality management level in TR Company is not only significantly improved, but also enhances the international market competitiveness of the crankshaft products. In addition, it also can be promoted and referenced to other enterprises in the same industry.
