With the rapid development of science and technology, modern industry has a high demand of material performance. Therefore, all kinds of composite method and composite material have been produced, because the actual needs can’t be satisfied by the traditional single-material. Recently, since the cold-rolled composite strip has the advantages of high productivity, high composite efficiency, high dimensional accuracy and good surface finish, its process and equipment technology has developed and applied rapidly. Under this condition, it is necessary to research and develop the automatic control system for the cold-rolled composite strip. Based on the project of automatic control system for the composite aluminum-strip rolling in one cold rolling production line, the automatic control system for the cold-rolled composite aluminum-strip has been developed by combined with the process and device characteristics of the cold-rolled composite strip. What’s more, the key control model has been investigated, such as thickness, deviation. The details are following:(1)On the basis of the literature related to the metal composite technology and control technology in home and abroad, the development process of the metal composite strip technology has been reviewed. The technical characteristics of the rolling composite process have been discussed in detail. The thickness and deviation control technology during the cold-rolling process has also been analyzed. This research has laid a theoretical foundation for the research and development of the cold-rolled composite strip automation system.(2)On the basis of deeply analyzing the rolling technology requirements and the equipment characteristics for the cold-rolled composite strip, the cold-rolled composite strip automation system has been developed. What’s more, the program of the instrumentation configuration and selection has been proposed.(3)Based on the characteristics of cold-rolled composite strip, the thickness control strategy for the cold-rolled composite strip has been proposed. The monitoring AGC model, the thickness meter AGC model and the tension AGC model, which was suitable for the thickness control of the cold-rolled composite strip has been developed.(4)In order to improve the composite efficiency and the yield rate of the cold rolling composite strip, stabilize the rolling process, the correction automatic control system of the cold rolling composite strip has been developed by combined with the characteristics of the composite-rolling production line. What’s more, the device selection program of the deviation detection device, the hydraulic servo system and the deviation correction devices has been proposed.(5)Aiming at the correction control program of cold-rolling composite strip, the mathematical model for each process of the composite strip correction control system has been derived. The simulation model for the control of the composite-strip correction control system has been established. The simulation research of the PID controller parameters for the correction system has been carried out by using the MATLAB software. What’s more, the control parameters have been determined. It has laid a theoretical foundation for the parameter adjustment and optimization of the correction control system.
