The thickness control is a major index of product quality control on cold mill line.If the thickness control accuracy can't satisfy the needs which will influence the product quality,will make a bad effect on economic results finally.The AGC thickness controlachieved by gap control,speed control,tension control and model process is one important function of cold mill line.The article research is about SG 2230mm five stands'old mills.It introduced the process parameters and control system,at the same time,aimed atthe background,reasons,and plan implementation and verificationresults of strip head and tail thickness error problems which existedin the present stage in the process of rolling mill.We will optimize the thickness control function bythe research of gap control,speed control and tension control.Meanwhile,improve controlling thickness precision of strip head and tail by optimizing parameters of thickness automatic control function continuously.This paper launches the research respectively from the basic thickness control theory and the present development situation,the application of thickness control in cold rolling line,tension control effect on thickness and focus on the different AGC control using methods and so on.And focus on the thickness control problem for analysis of this cold rolling line and find the solution,finally realize the optimization of thickness control function and improve strip thickness control accuracy.The focus of this paper is Automatic Gauge Control(AGC),including Mass AGC Forward AGC Monitor AGC and Tension AGC.And improve strip thickness control accuracy by optimizing the different AGC control functions.
