Beam unit plays an extremely important position in the oilfield operations, so the ability to real-time and accurate monitoring the pumping state is very important to oil field safety, energy conservation. But because most oilfields have a lot of beam units and these beams scatter widely, it is difficult to monitor these states effectively.In order to make oilfield staffs do remote monitoring and state diagnosis more effectively, a new beam unit remote monitoring and state diagnosis system was designed on the basis of analyzing the development status and tendency of beam unit remote monitoring and state diagnosis system, the advantages and shortcomings of some existing system and the actual situations of oilfield. In the system, LAB VIEW, database, MATLAB are used to build the host computer software system and achieve the various functions. Wire communication and wireless communication are used to achieve the remote communication of beam unit remote monitoring terminals and PC together. The main work of this paper is as follows:Firstly, it introduced overall design scheme of the system and describes its structure, work process, design principles, main functions.Then, it introduced the means of communication, communication protocols, communications equipment which are involved in telecommunication of system. The realization of wireless communications and networking were described in detail. It also introduced the beam unit state diagnosis principle based on indicator diagram and the neural network-EA diagnostic method which was used in this system.Finally, it introduced the whole software implementation of this system and examples of system working process and diagnostic tests. In this system, LAB VIEW was used to compile human-computer interface, hybrid programming of LABVIEW and MATLAB was used to realize state diagnosis, connecting of LABVIEW and data base was used to manage data.The experiments show that the system can be installed and maintained easily, can run reliably and measure accurately. The monitoring software functions are complete. It has friendly human-computer interface, complete data management function. It can diagnose beam units’ state accurately and provide relevant advices so that the staffs can control exactly and rapidly. It can help beam units run more safe, energy-saving and efficient. So it has a high practical value of industrial production.
