The study on water quality criteria in China started relatively late and was based on data of EPA, due to which, criteria values of many chemicals such as BTEX, heavy metals and ammonia were derived during the "Eleventh Five-Year". But these criteria may not suit for local river basin because of "over-protection" or "inadequate protection". Therefore, it makes sense to establish representative water criteria of aquatic life. In this thesis, the toxicity of ammonia to Chironomus riparius, Saurogobio dabryi and Pseudorasbora parva were first evaluated in static48-hour and96-hour test based on OECD235and OECD203. Ammonia was used in21-day chronic test which was carried out based on OECD Guideline219using a spiked water-sediment system. After collecting toxicity data of Liao river aquatic organisms, caculate value of aquatic life water quality criteria about Liao river by toxicity percentile rank, which may work for setting up the environment management system of Liao river as a theoretical basis.(1) At pH=6.5~7, temperature is25℃, the48-h LC50value of ammonia to Chironomus riparius is246.74[196.42,306.05] mg/L. At pH=7.5, temperature is20℃, the96-h LC50values of ammonia to Pseudorasbora parva and Saurogobio dabryi are28.82[19.12,41.58] mg/L and30.35[20.06,43.40] mg/L.(2) The results show the EC20value of emergence ratio is25.27[7.627,45.908] mg/L. The emergence ratio is the most sensitive indicator with a significant adverse effect (P<0.05) compared to the solvent control at50mg/L. Significant adverse effects (P<0.05, P<0.001) were also observed compared to the solvent control for developmental ratio at200mg/L and400mg/L, which shows that increasing of concentration of ammonia could be impact on development of Chironomus riparius.(3) Through derivation, the temperature is20℃, pH=7, CMC and CCC of Liao river were8.44mg/L and2.98mg/L. At pH between6.5~9, the temperature of0~30℃, CMC and CCC range from0.12to19.30mg/L and from0.09to3.35mg/L.
