Highway Project Management Information System Based On Gis Applications

One hand, as the same as others project management, the highway engineering project management is a complicate, arduous system engineering. It includes tempo, quantity, investment, contract, personnel, risk, drawing list, archives and so on. But in the other hand, it has open-and-shut character to itself-geoscience character.At the present time, there are some kinds of project management software. These software try to perfect the highway engineering project management from the drawing up of tempo planning, the controlling of the tempo and cost to the analysis of the practical tempo at the angle of economy type. However, these software can help people to perform well in managing these text information and data, for example, the drawing up of tempo planning only and can't to do anything in displaying , enquiring and analyzing of the factors with geoscience character which include figure of highway, terrain object, and so on.We have researched and exploited the Highway Engineering Project Management Information System (acronyms: HEPMIS) based on GIS for resolution of the former problem.We take advantage of the digital method to deal with the construction management of highway and cost and the progress control in researching and exploiting the HEPMIS. The intension of the HEPMIS is to handle all kinds of information about highway with visual virtual(model) method, and let these information reappear computer terminal for dynamic management. Its kernel is data and the service based on the data.We carry through the second time development on the basis of GIS flatform in HEPMIS. The GIS flatform which we adopt is Mapinfo6.5 and the development language is Visual Basic6.0. We may invoke Mapinfo by the second development language MapBasic which its own. All kinds of spatial information and attribute information of highway construction are transferred into database and it is maintained amended and visited by writing programmers. In the while, Microsoft Access is choosed as the design tool of database.The function design of system includes writing down amendment and pretreatment about spatial database and attribute database. This system provides common and basic functions of GIS. Besides, we can make out the topographical maps, planimetric maps and skiagraph , structure objects of highway construction of design and can inquire two-way between spatial information and attribute information. The system apply Earned Value Method to perform the correlative property to classification statistic.This thesis consider discuss and analyze many problems about building up the HEPMIS based on GIS and We design relevant software. The software may fulfill some basic requirement of query and analysis and can help manager to make out some decision-making by using it.
