As the fundamental component and important information source of GIS (Geography Information System) , spatial-data will play a more and more important role in steady economic progress in our country. With the extension of application of geography information system, the age of Digital Earth is coming, and the relationship between spatial data and the production and life of human being, will be more and more close. All of these bring up more requests for construction of geographic spatial database. With the progress of technology of modern GIS, there are four kinds of management about GIS data: Whole file pattern, the combination pattern of file and relation database, whole relation database pattern and object-oriented database pattern. In fact, the two former ones is managed by separating spatial data and attribute data, which results into the low query efficiency and the problem of data communion. It is also difficult for relation database to store complicated spatial data ,in this pattern, each developer have to define his own model of data storage, which is against the principle of data-shared. To the Object oriented pattern, however, still need further research. In this year, object-relation database becomes the main researching direction of geographic data storage and management, the manufacturer of GIS and RDBMS both have fetched their engine of spatial data. With the development of object-relation database, the consistent storage and management of geographic spatial data will becomes true. In Oracle 8i edition, the database has offered a model named spatial to storage geography vector data, by the time it was upgraded to 9i, the function of spatial was more enhanced, and by now, the oracle 1 Og spatial appends the model to manage raster data. The author analyzes the characteristics of geographic data, and researches the structures and mechanism of object-relation model. At last, the author provides an researchful example of consistent storage of GIS data , which is based on the data model of oracle spatial 1 Og.
