The work of gene recognition is an important branch of bioinformatics. With rapid development of computer technology, how to apply it into the work of gene recognition would be more and more valuable. Firstly, the importance , the main methods and the current status of the work of gene recognition are discussed in the paper, then analysis and compare the advantages and disadvantages among the classical spectrum estimation methods. Secondly, this paper study the work of gene recognition based on AR model, and analysis the influence on the result by using different parameter of AR model, then a valuable algorithm is given and simulated by a system build with Matlab. Another main work for this paper is studying the method for the gene recognition by using FFT based on FPGA. This paper discuss the current status of FPGA design , and presents the inner architecture of Xilinx Spartan-3 FPGA . Then more attention is paid on the approach of how to do the work of gene recognition based on Spartan-3 FPGA by using some design tools , such as ISE ,Modelsim, Synplify, and Matlab. Finally , the result is tested by a simulation system build with Modelsim and Matlab, and prove the result meets the requirement of design.
