From April to May of 2006 and 2007,A research on the feeding habitat selection of Black-winged Stilt(Himantopus himantopus) and Green Sandpiper(Tringa ochropus) was conducted in Zhalong Nature Reserve by the methods of fixed-spot observation,GPS positioning,plot sampling measurement,factor measurement and the significant test method, variance analysis method,factor analysis.The results are as following:(1) In Spring,both Black-winged Stilt and Green Sandpiper fed in reed marsh and carex marsh.Black-winged Stilt and Green Sandpiper preferred to both reed marsh and carex marsh. (2) We conducted a significant test for each ecological factors of Black-winged Stilt and Green Sandpiper in Spring.It shows that,between the two snipes,there exists significant difference among the ecological factors,especially in the vegetation density,vegetation coverage,water depths and distance to human disturbance(t>t0.01);also in the vegetation height and open water areas(t>t0.05).That also showed that they have particular strategy in selecting the feeding microhabitat.The best feeding areas for Black-winged Stilt have these characteristics:the average vegetation height is 42.05cm,the average degree of cover is 35.31%,the average vegetation density is 356.2/m2,the average water depth is 11.7cm and the average distance to human disturbance is 435.14m.The best feeding areas for Green Sandpiper have these characteristics:the average vegetation height is 35.54cm,the average degree of cover is 39.38%,the average vegetation density is 524.05/m2,the average water depth is 8.44cm and the average distance to human disturbance field is 619.6m.(3) In spring of 2006,the results of component analysis of the ecological factors of Black-winged Stilt's and Green Sandpiper's feeding habitat showed that the primary factor which affects feeding habitat selection of the Black-winged Stilt and Sandpiper during this period was the food factors,then were water factors,disturbing factors and concealment factors.(4) In spring of 2007,the results of component analysis of the ecological factors of Black-winged Stilt's feeding habitat showed that the primary factor was still the food factor,then disturbance factors,concealment factors and water factors in turn;For Sandpiper the primary factor was also the food factors,then disturbance factors,water factors and concealment factors.
