Continuous rolling is the most important rolling method in Rolling Production. The dimensional accuracy and mechanical properties of steel tube are the major factors in continuous rolling. 3D complex and large plastic deformation is made in each pass for steel pipe. There are larger tensions between the stands when the steel tube deforming. Due to the complex deformation of rolled piece and imperfect rolling theory in the continuous rolling process, the defects of steel tube in quality are caused. Flow law of metal is essential reasons resulting in the defects in rolling deformation zone, so it becomes hot research issue.This topic is studied on the key technology of three-roll continuous rolling technology, based on 50 experimental continuous rolling mill in Shanxi Province key laboratory of metallurgical equipment design theory and technology.At first, the pass of three-roll continuing rolling mill is designed by combining pass geometric relation with experience method, the relevant formula are deduced with plastic deforming theory about three-roll continuing rolling. Then, this paper established the finite element model of three-roll three-stand continuous rolling process and three-roll single stand rolling process with the finite element analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA, and simulated the process of rolling process with explicit dynamic finite element algorithm. It is analyzed such as stress-strain change law in the process of continuous rolling on the three-roll three-stand, metal flow law, the change of rolling force and the change of restrained mandrel axial friction in rolling process. In additional, the effect of the front tension and back tension on rolling force on mandrel axial friction and metal elongation is analyzed in rolling process on the three-roll single stand, and effect of different ratios of mandrel speed and roll circular velocity on rolling force, mandrel axial friction and metal elongation is also studied. At last, on-site testing is done on the single stand rolling process. It is shown that the simulation results with finite element method is close to the tested value, and the results confirmed the correctness of finite element simulation.By computer simulation and experimental methods, the pipe continuous rolling process is studied, which can reduce developed cycle of continuous rolling mill and reduce production costs. Meanwhile, the research methods used in this paper provides a new research means for the further development of continuous rolling theory.
