Plate leveling is an important process in wide heavy plate production. Straightening is a process in which roller leveler or pressure straightening machine make plates straight, and the machines'efficiency influent the production capacity of heavy plate line and production quality importantly. There has no scientific theoretical analysis conclusion for the straightening capability of wide heavy plate leveler by now, so it is important to research the straightening capability of wide and thick roller leveler.In this article, straightening technics and principles in leveling process of heavy plate leveler are systematically researched, mechanical parameters analytical model for every leveling roller of 5000 mm wide heavy plate leveler is founded, straightening force and torque of every leveling roller are determined, the roller's axis deformation and the formulas used to calculate elastic flattening of leveling roller are given out, and relationship of the leveling force and roller deformation is detected.Mechanical parameters of 9 main rollers in up and down roller system and motor main roller of 5000 mm wide heavy plate cold roller leveler are collected in production field, and this wide heavy plate leveler's parameters can be analyzed according to testing data. Starting torque and leveling torque in stable leveling process of every roller are researched, starting torque's relationship with leveling speed and starting time are listed, and compared the theoretical calculation results and testing data, a good resolution of the theoretical calculation results is validated.The actual loading type of key parts in 5000 mm wide heavy plate leveler main transmission system is deeply analyzed based on testing results. Fatigue strength of key parts such as universal joint, cross axle, main axle, spline, shaft coupling and so on in 5000 mm wide heavy plate leveler main transmission system is calculated, and weak link fatigue lifetime in the main transmission is estimated. A theoretical academic reference of liquid safety catcher is adopted to used for field operation.
