In recent years, with the rapid development of the national economy and nationaldefence industry, the demand for medium and heavy plate has increased continuously inour country. Leveling is an important finishing process for medium and heavy plateproduction. Plate leveler is an important equipment which guarantees the quality ofmedium and heavy plate. With the wide application for TMCP technology, levelingtemperature is lowered, and yield strength of materials is increased, so plate leveler withhigh strength and stiffness, multi-function and advanced automation is required higher.Take a new-generation9-roller cold plate leveler for example, the paper identifiedanalytical model of cold plate leveling, simulated the cold plate leveling process with themethod of FEM, got a better leveling scheme. And according to the structural analysis ofplate leveler, it calculated the stiffness coefficient, and put forward the compensatoryscheme for roller gaps. Main contents of the paper are introduced below:Based on the relationship between stress and strain when plate is elastic-plasticbending, reasonable assumptions and the curvature of plate in the leveling process, thepaper identified the relationship between bending and moment of plate, and the calculationmethod of the leveler roller intermesh. It also introduced the leveling scheme of leveler,the identification of plate curvature when the plate contacts each roller, the leveling forceand the calculation method of stiffness coefficient.With the FEM simulation of cold plate leveling by using ABAQUS/Standardsoftware, the paper analyzed the leveling effect on plates of diffierent kinds of thicknessunder different leveling schemes, and identified their optimum leveling schemes accordingto the flatness.The paper constructed a3D model for the leveler by using SolidWorks software,analyzed its overall structure with the method of FEM by using SolidWorks/Simulation,got its stress and deformation state for plates of different kinds of sizes which were undertheir optimum leveling schemes, calculated the stiffness coefficient of the leveler, and putforward the compensatory scheme for roller gaps. As the leveler has the function which each roller can adjust independently, cold plateleveling process simulation can divide into9-roller and5-roller leveling. The paper tookinto account the leveling effect on plate, strength and stiffness of the leveler, identified abetter leveling scheme.By the FEM simulation of cold plate leveling from aspects of process and structure,the paper simulated cold plate leveling process relatively completely. This can providedtheoretical reference to leveling technology in China.
