In the industry production process of iron and steel, in order to ensure the quality of stainless steel products and to improve yield rate, before rolling slab, remove iron oxide and defects on the slab surface by face and spot grinding, so that the company can provide good quality products to meet customer requirements, and decrease the production cost of downstream processes, then obtain more competitive on the market. Grinding machine has been widely used in iron and steel plant at home and abroad, and has becme an indispensable and important part for the stainless steel and special steel production.Taking the grinding machine as the research object, firstly, this paper summarizes the development situation and trend of grinding machine in domestic and foreign area, analyzes the working principle of grinding machine. Determine the overall design of this system and structure of soft and hardware, select S7-400 programmable controller and Sinamics converter of Siemens company as the main equipment, apply the basic function and network configuration of PROFIBUS-DP, realize the distributed communication network and automatic control combined with the electro-hydraulic servo control technology for the grinding machine, finish the hardware design and software programming of the control system, and eventually realize the grinding of the slab.This paper focuses on control principle and control strategy of hydraulic servo system of the grinder lifting. According to the unideal effect of routine PID control, this paper designed the fuzzy PID controller. Realize the input fuzzy, fuzzy control query table, defuzzy for the output, and then adjust PID parameters by MATLAB fuzzy control toolbox, and compare the results between the conventional and fuzzy PID controller.The result show that, the control effect of the fuzzy PID control is better than conventional PID on overshoot, system stability and response speed, it is proved that it is possible to use the fuzzy PID controller and is of great significance to optimize the system.
