In recent, personnel safety has attracted more and more attentions due to the serious personnel injuries, catastrophic mechanical failures and production delay caused by underground mine accidents. In case of coal mine accidents, high-accuracy position system can greatly shorten the rescue time. Therefore, a low-power location system in underground mine is urgently needed to improve the safety and productivity.Considering the shortage of industry wireless networks which have high cost and lack of high storage and in time communication, heterogeneous wireless networks can make up these drawbacks which effectively combine the multiple information sensor equipments and data management system together. In this paper, on the basis of heterogeneous wireless networks, one system for underground mine location with low power consumption is proposed which mainly includes two aspects:(1) a hybrid location algorithm which possess high accuracy and low power consumption is designed for the unique environment in underground mine;(2) a background system is designed with the C/S framework and C# language with the development environment of VS2010.Herein,the hybrid location system with low power consumption is consisted of step counting algorithm with acceleration sensor, power control algorithm and adaptive packets scheduling scheme. The power consumption of mobile node is as low as possible because it is powered by battery. Taking the advantage of acceleration sensor in power consumption, the hybrid location algorithm combine the inertial sensor and location to determine the position of personnel undermine through transforming the accretions data to distance. Compared with traditional location system, it is greatly improved in accuracy and timely transfer location information. The power control algorithm and adaptive packets scheduling scheme are adopted to further optimize the power consumption in underground mine location.An overall underground mine location system is introduced which apply the geography information system in background system of underground mine location. By combing the position information of personnel and roadway information of underground mine, the design of ground control center is realized. The intelligentized and integrated characteristics is accorded with the development trends for underground mine location system.
