The filtration of red mud is an important operation to connect the Bayer process and the sinter process when people use Mixed Combination process to produce Alumina.The article explicates the technical process of red mud filtration in the alumina plant of Henan Branch China Aluminium Co.LTD.Company,points out the problems existing in the key equipment-the fliter.The fliters' current state is that the output of each machine is 7.6t/h,red mud filter-cakes contain 53 percent moisture and 1.67 percent solvble alkals.Because of the low production ,high moisture content,the filters' producing capacity is obviously lacking with the rapidly increasing in Alumina production and more over it has been the bottle neck factor to seriously impede the Alumina plant to increase the productionThe article regards red mud filtration sequence 13# the filter as the research object.After the theoretical analysis and field operation test,we established the mathematical model about the filters' operation state,presented the feasible scheme that can double the filters' output and did commercial run experiment.The article develops the further research in details in the following factors:1. Analyse and introduce the developing trend of various filtration technology both at home and abroad,especially the vacual filtration technolygy.The advantage is that it has simple servcture,high handing capacity,low price,low maintenance working capacity,needs less area,less early investment that other dewater method and so on.The article also analyses and ampares the fearures,the range of application and properties with various vacual filtration technology.2. Analyse and introduce the development and condition of filtration theory Carman-Ruth established the basis of the filtration theory of fixed-lay filter-cake which is broodly applied in modern industrial designand production,And meanwhile explain the heterogeneous filtration theory presented in 1980s,filter-cake contraction theory,non-Newtonian fluid filtration and press-squeeze theory.3. Analyse and research the state of filtration technology.Using the mathematical model of filtration process analyses the production capacity of the continuous revolving drum vacual filter and the filtration efficiency.Make feasible analysis about how to increase the filters' output from two main factors notation rate and filtration differential pressure.4. Make adaptable design about the filters' structure.Using sashcord fixation method solves some problems such as the slipping,deviating and leaking of the filtration fabric;Adopting discharge roller to vent ores lays fundament to increase production and accelerate the speed of the filter. The adaption of filters' vacual system makes the filter efficacious vacuum increase 0.02MPa,and the adaptable design to the key operation(increase the filter production)-filtration drum drive system make its rotation rate raise from 2r/min to 5.24r/min which creates a favourable condition to double the production. Devise the powered filter-cake washing system and research the choice of the filration medium as well.itThe modified test to the red mud filtration sequence 13 the filter proved the accuracy of theory about how to increase the involving drum filers' production and modified scheme ,explored the best modified and operating parameter,found a new method to increase the revolving drum vacual filters' production,created the sufficient and necessary conditions to increase the producing capacity and efficiency in Alumina plant.More over,the technology must be extensively applied in the market.
