2,4,6-Tris-(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine is an excellent additional retardant containing nitrogen,bromine,which can be widely used in thermoplastic,ABS,and also used in thermosetting resins.The synthesis of 2,4,6-tris-(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine was investigated and improved in this paper.Intermediate product 2,4,6-Tribromophenol and object product 2,4,6-tris-(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine was given separately using phenol,bromine and cyanuric chloride as raw materials.Many factors which effect the reaction,such as reaction temperature and reaction time,ratio of batching have been studied.Moreover,through the orthogonal experiment and data processing,the optimal process conditions were confirmed.The good reaction conditions are that reation temperature is about 55℃and the reaction time is 1.0h;the molar ratio of phenol to bromine is1∶1.55;the temperature of system when bromine being dropped is 35℃(the first step).The reaction temperature is about 70℃;the reaction time is about 1.5h and the molar ratio of 2,4,6-Tribromophenol to cyanuric chloride is 3.10∶1;the amount of ethyl acetate is 36g;the temperature of system when sodium hydroxide being added(the second step).Under the optimal condition,the total yield could reach about 94.7%.Especially,its surface color was blanch.The products were confirmed and made a pure analysis by IR,NMR,M.P,HPLC,DSC and TGA.At the same time,the installation diagram of object product was designed according to the result of experiments.
