This paper describes principles and main contents of revamping of Yangzi Petrochemical Company's aromatics complex, introduces new technology applications in this revamping , and analyses aromatics complex operation status after revamping. Throughout comparison, the energy and materials consumption are reduced, economic benefits are prominence, investment is saved, the construction period is shorten after revamping. It provides the reconstructive technology basis for the similar kind of units. The new reformed design model is put into operation for the first time. The project adopts home and abroad engineering standards at the same time, so that the design deepness, quality and speed improve rapidly. According to design experiences of Yangzi revamping project, explain particularly the layout of extract column and extract column reboilers and their piping arrangement from the perspectives of reboiler layout of the extract column system, support methods, column nozzles orientation, ladders and platforms arrangement, process and fire protect piping arrangement. The initial use of slotted bolt hole on the reboiler supports instead of round bolt hole, lengthening straight connect nozzle properly and adding rolling bracket underside supports make the structure simpleness and leaves out spring supports. It proves feasible and benefits for the investment. It studies the trench design methods, piping layout of process streams closed drain system and its valves choice in aromatics complex. It discusses fire fighting system as the assistant utility system in aromatics complex which plays the safeguard role in achieving process flow. This system meets German and Chinese standards. It shows the features and strongpoint respectively through these two standards comparison. It researches the design steps of lining pipe isometrics which is the part of pipe isometrics drawing program belonging to EDA AUTOPLANT series software and summarizes the advances for abstraction one-line material list and bill of materials. This philosophy brings an entirely arena that improves efficiency and accurateness. The program is modified by practices. It supply the shortcut for the further project.
