The rig piping system is as important a system in a ship as a blood vessel system is in a human body. Only having this system, other various systems in a rig could be connected and function accurately. It is the most important design steps in design one ship. In the same time, piping design also influences the economic cost of a ship and the weight of the rig. Piping system design has five consecutive phases:preliminary design, functional design, detail design, production design, and system-support information. Pipe Layout Design is to design the appropriate routes for pipes connecting the start and the goal points in 3D workspace, satisfying various constraints and objectives. Pipe routing is the most important activity during the detail design phase because it takes over 50% of the total detail-design man-hours. At the present time, Ship Pipe Routing Design mainly relies on human experts and their related experience in practice. Due to the great number of ship pipes, highly complex constraints and the large search space, it is very difficult and time-consuming. Compared with the whole ship design in utilizing advanced technology, SPRD is left far behind and become the bottleneck of shortening ship design period.Since 1970's, Pipe Layout Design has been a research topic. Starting with the stationary 2D workspace and simple obstacles, research has grown to the stage of 3D dynamic, multi constraint and multi objective problems, resulting in various approaches. These researches are very useful and valuable to the further research of the theme. But until now, there is not a set of mature theory and ideal method yet.In this paper, by combining its own master in the daily work of some pipeline optimal placement methods, principles, and using the theory of maintainability and the theory of modular design, pipeline optimization design of ocean engineering platforms study, sums up some experience of optimal placement of the piping used in ocean engineering platforms, methods. In this paper, optimal placement of the cabin line are discussed from several aspects, including bulk based on the theory of the maintainability mud and cement system pipeline optimization; The sea creatures device and pipeline optimization; Based on the theory of modular mud pump room equipment and pipeline optimization design; The actual application example generator exhaust pipe on the pipeline optimal placement of the stent.The level of piping layout design on the drilling rig is not only related to the testing result on the piping layout is beautiful, but also related to the relevant valves on the pipeline and the attachment is easy to operation. And the more important is the weight of the drilling rig for itself is very demanding, and pipeline by optimizing the arrangement can save construction cost and production time.So optimal placement of the pipe on the drilling rig has important significance in many aspects.
