Taking the basic parameters of rock drilling machine-impact energy as the point of penetration, the paper makes a depth research for a large aperture heavy rock drill and the hydraulic system was designed.First, we carry on the depth research into the characteristic of rock---the action object of heavy drill, and get the critical energy value while the rock with different hardness is drilled in the hole with different sizes. Meanwhile we made a wave mechanics analysis into the heavy drill's impulse system, and obtained the relationship between the piston characteristic of the impulse system and the size of impact consumption. Then we get the range value of the impact consumption that the 260 mm diameter heavy drill has.Second, we do a study deeply by using the classical design theory of hydraulic rock drill. By the comprehensive analysis and comparison to various working mechanism of the hydraulic impactor, the design decision of the article is definited as pressure feedback hydraulic heavy drill. We make a detailed analysis and design into the heavy drill'piston trajectorysand by the Three Segmental Analysis, then get the various hydraulic parameters and theoretically proved the feasibility of high impact consumption, high power heavy drill, also, the rationality of preferences; We designed and optimized on the hydraulic parameters of pilot control valve, so that it can meet the needs of high frequency, heavy traffic working condition. Then we design the hydraulic system which matches with the heavy drill, and conduct the selection and design of all kinds of hydraulic components.At last, we use AMESim to model and make simulation analysis for the heavy drill and hydraulic system. Also, we prove the correctness and feasibility of the heavy drill's theoretical calculation. Meanwhile, we optimize the correlation parameter to make them having more rasonable value. We test to the impact consumption, impact frequency, inlet pressure, input traffic by the experiment, and find the degree of agreement between the experiment and the result of the theoretical design and numerical simulation. So that proves the crectness of the theoretical research and the rationality of the design result.Starting from the work object, in this paper, the operating characteristics of heavy rock drill was studied; the match system was designed and verified by related experiments. What we have done in this paper is of great significance in designing the heavy rock drill to drill deep and large diameter hole.
