Micro-cutting is the forward position in the field of advanced manufacturing, it is very important to the precious spares manufacturing in the fields of high-tech fields. Micro-cutting will be used to manufacture any shapes of 3-D spares of many kinds of materials, it covers the shortages of MEMS, and micro-cutting will have a vast prospect.Because micro-cutting has strong points, micro-cutting machine tool usually does not adopts standard numerical control system, but selects open numerical control system for use. The openning of numerical control system is becoming one of the most important directions of numerical control technology.The research purpose on open numerical control system is to build a modular, reconfigurable and expandable structure of numerical control system to improve the system's flexibility, and enable the system to be re-developed. As a result, numerical control system can be responsive to the market quickly and economically.This paper develops a 3-D micro-cutting machine tool numerical control system based on the 6K motion controller which is made in American, The details of the study are as following:(1) Based on the 6K motion controller and the 3-D fine motion platform which is drived by liner motors, according with the structure of the open numerical system, we develop a hardware system with the style of PC+Motion controller. The control object mainly consists of two parts:chief axis motion control,3-D fine motion control.(2) In the hardware system,besides the chief axis motion control and 3-D fine motion control, other auxiliary functions for the machine tool and the environments control for the micro-cutting also be realized,for example:air pump control, water pump for cooling control, air conditioner control, air purifier control,start and stop of the whole control system.(3) According with the request of open numerical control system, we also develop the software for the 3-D micro-cutting machine tool numerical control system.What it includes are as following:human-machine interface, and relevant numerical control functions.The human-machine interface is designed with the style of modularization, it mainly consists of communication setting, parameter setting, state manifest, manual operation, automatic operation module and so on. In the manual operation, automatic operation modules, the numerical control functions are realized.(4) In the automatic module, we transform G code to 6Kcontroller language, realizing the openning of the command.(5) Combined with the experiment, we have veried the functions of the numerical modules.The 3-D micro-cutting machine tool numerical control system which is developed has passed through the experiment verification, achieving the requests of design basically, lays a foundation for the research of micro-cutting mechanism.
