Epstein-Barrvirus(EBV)isaoncogenicherpesviruswithawidespreadinfectionintheworld,andtheinfectionrateabove90%.EBVdisplayastypeIIlatentinfectioninNasopharyngealcarcinoma(NPC),andexpressEBVnuclearantigen(EBNA1,2,3A,3B,3C,-LP),andtherespeciesofmembraneprotein(latentmembraneprotein-1(LMP-1),latentmembraneprotein-2A,2B).Ofthese,LMP-1isassociatedwithavarietyofhumanmalignancies,includingBurkitt'slymphoma,Hodgkin'sdisease,gastriccarcinomaandNasopharyngealcarcinoma.StudieshaverevealedthatLMP-1couldpromotecellproliferation,inhibitapoptosisandinducecellcarcinogenicprogression.Accordingtotwonationalsocieties,TheAmericanAcademyofOtolaryngology–HeadandNeckSurgery,andTheAmericanAcademyofAllergy,AsthmaandImmunology,in2004,thepaneldevelopeddefinitionsforrhinosinusitis.CommitteemembersagreedthatThediagnosisofChronicRhinosinusitis(CRS)withnasalpolyposis(NPs)requiresobjectivedocumentation,thatrequiresanteriorrhinoscopyornasalendoscopytoassertthepresenceofNPsandapositiveimagingstudybymeansofsinusCT.CRSisinflammatoryconditioninvolvingtheparanasalsinuses,aswellastheliningofthenasalpassagesthatpersistbeyond12weeks.CRSiscommonlysubdividedintopolypoidandnonpolypoiddisease.TheetiologiesofpatientswithandwithoutNPsoverlap.However,inmostcases,thehistologyandresponsetotherapydifferbetweenthesetwolargesubdivisions.PredisposingfactorsforCRScanbecategorizedintothreebroadandoverlapping categories:geneticorphysiologicfactors,environmentalfactors,andstructuralfactors.TheetiologyofNPsremainspoorlyunderstood,maybeconsideredanonspecificedematous,usuallyeosinophilic,sinonasalresponsetoavarietyofinflammatorycausesthatareusuallynotinfectious.WithadiseaseprocessthatisascomplexasCRS,itisnotsurprisingthatthereistodatetherecentapprovalofonlyoneteartmentinthetherapyofCRS.Surgicaltherapyisindicatedinpatientswhohavefailedmedicaltherapy.ButCRSandNPsarethoughttomorelikelyrecurrent,andtherearefewcorrelationdetectionindextopredictpathogeneticcondition.SothisstudywasdesignedtoevaluatethemechanismofEBVinfectiononNPs,andtoinvestigatetheexpressionandprognosticsignificanceofLMP-1inNPs.Methods:Theanti-LMP-1antibodiesweredetectedbyELISAandWesternblotof20healthadultand20caseswithchronicrhinosinusitiswithnasalployps'sera.Results:TheLMP-1usedtodetectspecificantibodiesintheseraofhealthadultsandpatientswithchronicrhinosinusitiswithnasalploypsbyELISAandWesternblot.While20seraofpatientsand20seraofhealthadultbeingdetected,Comparedpatientsbeforeoperationwithhealthadult,theexpressionlevelofanti-LMP1antibodiesweresignificantlyimproved.At2-weekand1,3,6-monthafteroperation,theexpressionlevelofanti-LMP-1antibodiesdecreasedgradually.Statisticallysignificantdifferencewasobservedat3-monthafteroperation,buttherewasnodiferencebetweenat3-monthand6-monthafteroperation.Conclusion:Theanti-LMP-1antibodieswerecertificatedbyELISAandWesternblotinseraofpatientswithchronicrhinosinusitiswithnasalployps.Afteroperationandcombinedtherapy,theexpressionlevelofanti-LMP-1antibodiesdecreasedgradually.TheresultssuggestthatEBVmaybeassociatedwithchronicrhinosinusitiswithnasal ployps,andrelationshipwasfoundbetweentheprognosisandtheanti-LMP1antibodiesexpression.
