The bark of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle is the dry root bark or the dry hide of the plant tree of heaven which belongs to the simarubaceae, is our country commonly used Chinese medicine. Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle distributes in our country widely, specially, in North China and the Northwestern Region, and the medicinal resources are rich. Clinical reported that it uses in treating the acute bacillary dysentery, the Amoebic dsentery, cervical cancer and so on. But the recently research indicated that the tree of heaven extraction has the high anti-tobacco mosaic virus activeness, and the chloroform extract of the bark of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle ethyl alcohol anti-tobacco mosaic virus is best, and the chloroform extract has been separated, but the prevention function of the compounds which under the living specimen condition to the tobacco mosaic virus is not to be obvious. the further discovery and the research of the chloroform extract must go on. In order to deeply investigate the chemical constituents of the chloroform extract, the bark of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle were extracted, separated, and the structures of the chemical constituents were identified in this dissertation. The bark of Ailanthus altissima(Mill.)Swingle was extracted by 75% ethanol, and then partitioned by petrol ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butanol, respectively. Phytochemical investigation of the chloroform extract of the bark of Ailanthus altissima(Mill.)Swingle has resulted in the isolation of eight compounds. The eight compounds was obtained by conclum chromatograph of silica gel Sephedex LH-20, PTLC and recrystallization from the chloroform extract, and structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis, especially NMR.On the basis of spectroscopic analysis and by comparison with the references, the structures of eight compounds were identified, they are hydroxydammarenone-I;ocotillone;5,6,7,8-tetramethoxycoumarin(arteli-n);lanost-7,22,25-trien-3-oxo;3-oxo-24,25,26,27-tetranor-lanost-7-en-23-acid;stigmast-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one;stigmast-4-en-3-one;20-Hydrox-ystigmast-4,6-dien-3-one. Identification of which three are new compounds, and the remaining five were first isolated from the bark piles. The topic has laid a solid foundation for the anti-tobacco mosaic virus biological pesticide research, and provides a scientific basis for comprehensive development of improving quality standards and leather resources of bark of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle.
