Chemical composition of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle has been systematically studied in this article. Chemical composition, pharmacological effects and clinical applications of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle are briefly reviewed. The bark of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle, which iscommon traditional medical herb in our country, is the dry root bark or the dry hide of the plant tree of heaven which belongs to the simarubaceae. A perennial deciduous tree, was born in the sunny slopes or thickets, located in China’s northern, eastern and southwest. It is a very famous Chinese mediccine used in the treatment of dysentery, stomachaxhe.hematochezia.etc.Modern pharmacological studies have shown that the alcohol extract and chloroform extract had significant anti-tumor activity. At present.anti-tumor components of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle has some multi-ingredient compounds of bitter wood bitter elements, but because of the toxicity of these compounds, the application is very limited. Therefore, the main purpose of this topic of the study of their inherent chemical composition of plant chemical means, the purpose of looking for a low toxicity and efficient anti-tumor active ingredient to provide a theoretical basis for the development of new anticancer drugs, while Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle use and development has an important role in guiding. The ethanol extract of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle is divided into five different polar fractions of petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, butanol and water, using a silica gel column, reverse phase column(RP-18),Sephadex LH-20, MCI and so on. Using a variety of spectroscopic and physicochemical methods for the structural identification.40compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle. The chemical structure of the33compounds were identified, namely: (E)-4-((1R,4S)-1.4-dihydroxy-2;2,6-trimethylcyclohexyl) but t-3-en-2-one (1), Phorbol-13-a-acetate-20-acetate (2),(E)-4-(1R,2R,4R-trihydro xy-2,6.6-trimet hylcyclohexyl) but-3-en-2-one (3), ClemaphenolA (4), Syringic acid (5), con iferyl alcohol (6),1,3-dihydroxypropan-2-yl12-methyl-6-(6-meth ylheptyl) tride c-12-enoate (7), Indole aldehyde (8), P-methoxybenzaldehyde (9), Phillygenin (10),(E-4-((1R,4S)-4-hydroxy-2.6,6,-trmethylcyclohex-2-enyl) bu t-3-en-2-one (11).(R,E)-3,3,5-trimethyl-4-(3-oxobut-1-enyl) cyclohex-2-enone (12).
