Aim: To investigate the effects of ganyan No.l decoction on acute liver injury of rats caused by carbon tetrachloride (CCL4). Methods: The acute liver injury model was made by injection of (CCL4).Serum alamine aminotransferase (ALT) and asparate aminotransferase (AST), Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) activities and Malondialdehyde (MDA)content in liver tissue were measured at 12h,24h,36h.48h,60h respectively after initiating injury. And took liver tissue, H.E. staining,, observed with light microscope. Results: Serum ALT, AST activities, MDA content significantly increased after injury in model group, SOD activity obviously decreased and was lowest at 36h. Ganyan No.l decoction could decrease ALT, AST activities, MDA content and increase SOD activity. Pathological pieces showed that ganyan NO. 1 decoction could reduce the injury of liver caused by CCL4 and normalize it rapidly. Conclusion: Ganyan No. 1 decoction had the marked effects of anti-lipid peroxidation in liver injury.
