China is vast in territory. It abounds in dialect resources. The Chinese dialects have long history, and, their richness and complexity in various phenomena are rare founded in other languages. But with the daily increasing development of culture and economic, and frequently communicating of people in different dialect region and the expanding of the common spoke Chinese , especially, some characteristics of dialects are diminishing. Therefore, it is great urgency and important for us to excavate and collect the dialects of different area in china.This essay will discuss the Sound of Wudi County in Shandong province. The county lies in West-north Shandong province. And its dialect belongs to Ji-lu official language region, one of group of north common spoke Chinese dialects. In 1990s, The dialects have collected and studied the dialects of Shandong province ,meanwhile, this work was successful .However, the dialect of Wudi County is seldom studied, and few essays on it can be found in press. So it is very important to write this treatise. The treatise takes North of Wudi town as data-drawing area. With the research method of synchronies descriptive method and diachronic comparative method, the treatise gives entirely and deeply describing and studying on Wudi phonological system.The treatise is divided into four chapters. Following is its main content.The first chapter is introductions. Introducing the geographical locations, the populations, historical course and social conditions. Furthermore, presenting the condition of the major informant and the circumstances of investigating and recording. The aim is to make the reader grasp and understand the whole background of Wudi's dialect.The second chapter is phonological system. In this chapter, we list the initials, finals and the tone of Wudi County's dialect and illustrate the special phoneme when necessary. Then it makes phonic combining chart, generally illustrating the relationship of initials, finals and tones. And giving explanations on the syllables which is voiced but no characters can be found. Fainlly, syllabary of homophones is given to offer detailed materials to learn the sound structure. While listing, the author pays attention to pick out the more characteristic dialect words and explains the meaning of words which can't be found in the common spoke Chinese or the syllables which any characters.The third chapter deals with mutation, pointing out various sound change phenomena exiting in Wudi's dialect in the way of illustrtion.They are assimilation, dissimilation, sound uniting, colloquial reading and literary reading, and retroflex R-ending. Through a large number of dialect examples, describing the sound change phenomena of Wudi's dialect in synchronic angle. About of R-suffixation which is divided into three kinds, consonant R-suffixation, disyllabic R-suffixation and common R-suffixation. The treatise gives some descriptions to the feature and structures as well as illustrates it with many words which are popular and reprehensive. Base on this, in respects of the place and manner of consonant and the place of tongue of vowels, the treatise gives the explanation to the R-suffixation. In addition, the treatise has also explained other R-suffixation phenomena.The fourth chapter is the discussing on the comparative phondogy which includes the comparison between Wudi's sound and middle ancient time sound, Wudi'sound and Beijing's sound. All these are linked by Wudi's dialect. How the middle ancient times sound evolutes in Wudi's dialect can be discovered from the longitude comparison, and the law of sound shift can be researched according to this. With horizontal comparison, we can find out the corresponding Pattern of Wudi's sound and Beijing's sound from the latter comparison.
