Ximen Qing is a key hero in "Chin p'ing Mei". He has complex and contradictory psychological characteristics. While trading on feudal ethics, he could not get rid of the bondage of traditional concept. This is specifically realized in the five aspects of his life梖amily, power, religion, women and money. His idea of family is mainly exhibited in his paradoxical psychological state towards his women and his offsprings. His sense of virginity is scarce but can not tolerate the betrayal of women. At the same time he also trades virginity for riches. He shows great concern for his inheritants, but could get away with the abnormal death of his son. He scoffs at poor officials and simultaneously, he risk any price to plead the powerful people to become an official, protecting his business, which shows he possesses both confidence and humility. He shows pragmatic concept in religion, but shows more attention to money and personal power. In bisexual relationship, he exhibits abnormal sexual act and psycho-state. He uses sex as a tool to run his home, punish and revenge those who contradicts his authorities. He satisfies his abnormal psyche by being cruel to women and making them plead, which is a way of proving his own value and sense of priority. His success makes him wish to become a hero in love affairs. When impotent, he relies on love device and potion which is evidence of his anxiety and fragile psyche. The image of Ximen Qing emerged in mid and late Ming Dynasty. The combination of new and old social reality affects his psyche. He possesses the characteristics of official, businessman and hooligan, among which the businesslike character dominates. The multi status cause the mental complexity.Fictions before "Chin p'ing Mei" are weak in the description of human mind. Concretely speaking, conceptually unconscious and simple in depiction. "Chin P'ing Mei" depicts psyche through different means, whichinfluences "Red Mansion Dreams" and is very significant in the history of Chinese fiction.
