Since 1990s, accompanied with the further economic development, the transformation in the realm of ideology and culture has been coming up, which kept supplying continuous mental impetus for social development. It seems that china's former artistic education which is relatively simplex can't meet today's requirement when facing to the international stage, which has been encountered with some embarrassment when communicating with the world outside. The academic education gradually demonstrated the characteristic of isolation and stiffness, which was losing its advanced position and the nature of pioneer. That is to say, what students have learned in academy cannot fully explain or interpret the perplexity and the confusion that exist in realms of art and society, as a consequence, because of the disjointedness between teaching and practice, there appeared some defects in the information structure. The purpose of reform is to introduce some new kinds of artistic language such as material and concept in our ordinary teaching, adjusting our information structure by establishing a set of highly effective teaching system and methodology, analyzing these 10 years' materials and achievements, breaking away from former way of teaching that is individualized and experiential and introducing administrations of data and statistics in the ordinary teaching. Because of the existing of regional and cultural discrepancy, each academy of fine arts has its own ideas, which leads to different effect. However, as a new teaching experiment, it will definitely face to all kinds of occasions and possibilities. My paper is trying to show the reflection brought by this phenomenon through my specific observation and research. Meanwhile, the analysis and comparison with the data and graphs will provide references for its further development.This report is mainly about the analysis of the teaching reforming process in sculpture department of several China's academies of fine arts from 1990 to 2002. During these 12 years, the sculpture teaching has become gradually many-faceted. The adoption of all kinds of new materials and concepts has provided great material support for our reform. In order to make my research more perfect and precise, I issued a set of questionnaire for extensive investigation, which let the students of sculpture department in three academies of fine arts as the informants, and the contents covered almost all the fields from teaching to study. The result of my research will be considered as a comprehensive evaluation for the various aspects of our department, including teaching concepts and conditions, and at the same time for our teachers' performance. When the decision-maker is establishing regulations, the relationship between the executor and the common people will decide whether the reform can be implemented smoothly.The study of art actually contains the construction and interweaving of individual, social and cultural meanings. And the art education is considered to evoke the combination of capability and character inclination, which is many-faceted and uncertain. The realistic representation and the study of materials will extend to the tide that students finally get into the society. If this subject can be used widely in various intellective realms, on the basis of this understanding, there will be no subject predominating over others, that's because weakening one single subject equals to weakening all the subjects' possibilities and hopes. If art is needed to help us to decide the path leading to our future, it should be studied as an entity composed of realistic and abstract concepts contained in various subjects, and it should provide its own particular, abundant and complicated representing methods and let the setting of course have the spirits of exoteric and independent.
