Myers - Bi Ruisi Personality Type Inventory (mbti) Theory And Application Of A Preliminary Study

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a useful personality assessment tool developed on the base of Jung's theory of psychological type which has achieved highly appraise in the professional area of psychology .The purpose of this research is to study its new version in Chinese background.The first part of this paper is a detailed introduction and discussing of the MBTI personality theory and applied research. In the second part, a Chinese version has generated based on the M version of MBTI. The version's test-retest stability and structure validity have been tested based on the data of 332 adult subjects. In addition, the distribution of the 16 personality types in the subjects has also been displayed and analyzed. At last, the correlate between the personality type and the career selection has been studied through the SSR index suggested by other researchers and the Chi-square test.All the results demonstrate that the MBTI Chinese version has agreeable reliability and validity and is compatible with Chinese context. Also, the model of the data supports the study assumption that some types will over-represent in a given occupation.
