China's Early Modernization Reasons For The Delay - Historical Investigation And Theoretical Analysis

China,as a modernization's successor,just like C.E.Black's saying: a maturest traditional society, is just also a society which is the most unwilling to modernize during a long period. China was just a typical case in this aspect. The process of Chinese pursuit was not successful during the early modernization phase,so Chinese early modernization was delay.The aim of this paper is to explore the reasons of Chinese modernization delay during its early phase.We can review and analyze Chinese traditional society structure, decline of China and different kinds of revivals' efforts and international situation in history and theory views.I adopted analytical method,method of comparison research, literature research, method of historical and logic unification.In my paper,I did a further exploration on the reasons of Chinese early modernization delay by non-economic factors and synthesize some new researching achievements.Part one:Political authority became rigidity.The Qing dynasty's rigid authority couldn't get rid of inner system's crisis,establishment of the Republic of China couldn't hold back the situation,Chinese political authority was still soft regime with rigid power and thought.For late and extrinsic modernization countries, effect of non-economic factors is more important than economic, especially they need a strong effective and modernminded regime.But China didn't have this effective regime,so lost opportunities again and again .Part two:The traditional society structure counterworked modernization . This part analyzed Chinese modernization was delayed by traditional society structure from economy structure, politics structure and culture tradition. From economy structure: For the production conditions of pre-modern times, China formed a series of criterions which attached more important on farming and restrained commerce.This created a splendent civilization in the world history .But it was not good for the growth of modern production mode. From the politics structure:The most powerful eastern absolutism which built on the patriarchal clan system was a shackle to freedom creating and democracyextending.From the culture tradition:The traditional Confucian pan-moralism was the thought which ethic was used to restrict the real-life.It was a opposition of democracy, nomocracy, human rights of modern society.It also shrinked Chinese people's science and organon spirit.Part three:Chinese international status became peripheralization.This part is to explore the external reason of Chinese early modernization delay. The process of Chinese early modernization was under the situation that Chinese international status became peripheralization.Big powers' aggression destroyed Chinese economic development directly and slowed Chinese modernization's process,unfair world system made Chinese early modernization's start falling into difficulties.
