This thesis first describes the phonetic system of a new discovered Xiang dialect island in Anyue county Sichuan province, methodologically, and compares the phonetic systems with that of both the middle ancient Chinese language and Mandarin.The ongoing language change leads to a decrease of the ancient voiced initials, namely, the voicelesslization is stepping on. There are, according to the author's field investigation, 9 voiced initials preserved in Daping hua phonetic system. The initials in Daping hua maintains the coexistence of the aspirated voiceless, the non-aspirated voiceless and the voiced . There shows a speed degree of voicelesslization among these initials in the course of language change: the voiced fricative > the voiced affricate > the voiced stop. Some initials which preserve for the time being ,both the voiced and the voiceless can even be differentiated the literal reading and the colloquial reading , or the new variety and the old variety. The retroflex is nearly fading completely with language changing, and at last combined with the alveolar. The sharp initials and the round initials are mostly merged. The 知庄章 groups are pronounced as the 精 group which is also the main characteristics of Sichuan dialect phonology.The finals' characteristics are as follows: the middle ancient yang-sheng rhymes finals ,yin-sheng rhymes finals and the ru-sheng rhymes finals , to some extent, are merged or mixed in pronunciation.
