As an outstanding Marxist thinker, Lious Althusser plays an important role in modern West science. This thesis is not intended to give an exhaustive description of Althusser's theory, but just study his theory of historical science. To object western Marxism humanists'"misreading"of Marxism and safeguard Marxism, Louis Althusser reinterprets Marxist science of history by employing structuralism. Starting from analyzing Althusser's theoretical base---structuralism, this thesis focuses on the study of Althusser's theory of history after examining its background and contents.First, this thesis has studied Althusser's theory of Marxism is"anti-humanism in theory". Based on the criticism of Marxism humanists, Althusser defines Marxism as"anti-Humanism in theory". To some extent, his theory of dividing the period of Marx's earlier theory is right, but he simplifies Marxist theory's development. So it makes his further analysis lack of necessary transitional step.Second, this thesis lays stress on Althusser's thought of"history is a process without subject". This thought shots the weakness of the humanitarianism in some degree. But because he emphasizes the structural function excessively, Althusser neglects and abandons the subject in Marxism. Therefore, he runs to another extreme that negated subject. Then, in order to study his theory of"the history how to go forward", the thesis precedes the analysis on Althusser's overdetermination. In Althusser's view, there is structural causality in Marxism. By this viewpoint, he objects historism and overism. Based on study, the thesis raises that Althusser's theory prevents from comprehending Marxism simply and mechanically. But because of Althusser's emphasizing the structural function excessively, it hinders his theories'power in some degree.To study Althusser's thoughts, especially his theory of history, is necessary in Chinese academic circle, as the precise rational attitude and methodological practice of Althusser's theory of history are worth learning and studying, also its limitation and methodological fault are worth discussing. Therefore, to study Althusser's thoughts is still of great necessity and significance nowadays.
