| In the history of Chinese modern poetry, Peng Yanjiao is a poet with his bright character, whose poems are of uniqueness, should not be peripheral. Peng's poems are profoundly influenced with foreign literature. And the study about him and his poetry is not enough. This thesis, investigating into the influence of Belgian symbolist poet Emile Verhaeren on Peng's composition, tries to deepen the study of Peng's poetry from the perspective of comparative literature.The thesis can be divided into three chapters.:The first chapter is about the origin of correspondence. In the first part of this chapter, Peng's life and the history of his poetry composition are introduced. And it is introduced that Peng's living and experience gives birth to his poems with characteristics of native soil, open sight, modern consciousness and common character with Verhaeren. And second, this chapter investigates how Peng, in the trend of symbolism, become attached to Verhaeren and his symbolist poetry. As Peng is a poet who accepts the foreign literature by dint of translation, so Ai Qing, with his composition and translation of Verhaeren's poetry, is the intermediate for Peng.The second chapter is named as the resonance from far away. In this chapter, the author analyzes the influence of Verhaeren on the theme, image and form in Peng's poems so as to reveal how does Peng utilize Verhaeren's poems as source of reference and combine his own aesthetic interest in composing his own poetry. For example the theme of city and countryside, the image of strength and light and the form of free verse all represent the correspondence between Peng and Verhaeren.The third chapter is about the dissimilarity between Peng and Verhaeren. Though Peng and Verhaeren have multitudinous affinity, there are still variations in the process of acceptance. Learning and mirroring the style of writers and genres at all times and in all over the world, Peng internalizes and surpasses them. In the process of returning to tradition, Peng forms a unique "this one". |
