Caught In The Survival: The Early 1950s, Grass-roots Rural Cadres

In May of 1949, the Communist Party of China came into power and took in charge of Nanhui County. Right after that, the government started the political construction in grass level. A detailed administrative network of grass roots was composed of southward-service cadres, activists and a number of staff worked for the National Government. Based on this background, the author will carry out the research from the appointment, training, feature, behavior, role of the rural cadres and their relationship with mass, discussing the difficulties the rural cadres met with in their work and how they coped with the problems. The author intends to -unfold the survival condition of rural cadres under the dual stress from the state and the mass in the early stage of the 1950s, which may be able to enrich our understanding of political condition in grass level in early times of People's Republic of China.
