Study On The Cognitive Perspective Of Meaning Extension In Ancient Chinese

Our trational Scholium attached importance to research on the extension of semantic meaning, and payed attention to this question foa a long time.But the study of trational linguistic remained in the expalnation of etymon and extended sense,didn't try to peruse the motivity and condition.On the basis of predecessors's studies,we will discuss the extension of ancient Chinese semantic meaning from the cognitive perspective,mainly explain the relationships between the extension of semantic meaning and metaphor,metonymy with plenty data,and try to review the extion of ancient Chinese semantic meaning.There are five chapters in this paper in all.The first chapter is an introduction retrospect.The fifth chapter is a summary.From the second chapter to the forth chapter are main parts of this paper.The fifth chapter is a summary.The second chapter fistly define the extion of ancient Chinese semantic meaning.We define the extion of ancient Chinese semantic meaning in broad sense,the extion of semantic meaning may be caused by objecctive world or subjective world,and also may be caused by language internal factors alone.The result of semantic meaning's extion firstly shows the addition of the word sememe.From the angel of the word's identity,the extion of semantic meaning may leads to two kinds results,limited within one word,or derive new words.In the third chapter we discuss the function of metaphor in the the extion of ancient Chinese semantic meaning.Fistly, the function of metaphor is reflected in the extension of substantive,it can make word sememe extend to different congnitive domain.Metaphor also plays an impaort role in the prdcess of substantive generalization,we take the examples of adverb,conjection and preposition to indicate the relationship between the substantive sememe and expletive sememe.In the forth chapter we analysis the relationship between the extension of semantic meaning and metonymy.The extension of semantic meaning caused by metonymy incude two cases,one is that the parts of speech remain unchanged,the other case is that the parts of speech change in the process of the extension of semantic meaning.
