Context has been a hot issue of linguistic research. Since the thirties of last century, many scholars at home and abroad have been doing research about context from different angles, such as: pragmatic linguistics, functional linguistics and psycholinguistics, etc. Scholars hold different views on the understanding of context. The study of context has so far achieved fruitful results which lays a solid foundation for the follow-up study of this paper. One of the innovative aspects of this paper is generalizing context as two parts, namely context and linguistic context. Besides, it proposes that a context is hierarchy. Elements which constitutes the context are not parallel, but conceiving and interacting each other. The modality is the speaker's feelings and attitudes about one thing. All words must have their attitudes, such as the subjective approach and objective manner. They tend to be consistently throughout the text. The study of linguistics can be divided into language linguistics and speech linguistics. This paper studies subjective modality in linguistic speech. It does research about the influence of context on subjective feelings expression and understanding A deep and thorough understanding of the context helps with the expression and speech understanding, and is more helpful to grasp the attitude and mood of things. In addition, it helps to choose the exact means of expression of various emotions and attitudes. Based on this understanding, this paper tries to avoid the previous research perspective and methods.Instead of separating the context and modality apart, it researches context as a subjective interpretation of elements of modality. In this way, we can see how much influence the context has on the extent of subjective modality. Hope Russian learners can be enlightened through this paper's study. This article will use the theory of cognitive linguistics and functional areas of semantic field theory, as well as follow the "significance to the form" and "From form to meaning" two-way form description. It combines theory and practice, and analyzes verbal communication process as well as the impact of context to the statement of subjective modality of expression and understanding. This paper is divided into 6 chapters:Chapter I Introduction of Context and Modal Studies. It proposes self- understanding of context and modality after summarizing the historical research situation of context and modality. Chapter II Analysis of context as the modal interpretation of subjective factors. In this section, the paper analyzes four aspects of context; they are the definition of the concept of context, context characteristics, context type and context role.Chapter III Study of subjective modality semantic category. First, it tells semantic and semantic category set theory, which also involves areas of cognitive linguistics on the theory of subjective modality. Section II elaborates semantic categories, and shows the division of subjective modality type of semantic category.Chapter IV Subjective modal features semantic field. This chapter involves strength field theory, semantic field theory, and Russian original theory of functional grammar - functional semantic field;Chapter V Impact of context on subjective modal. This chapter concentrates on the theme; it analyzes the impact of context on subjective modal during the process of speech production and understanding of from the psychological linguistics and functional linguistics view.Chapter VI Application of the context and the subjective modality in teaching practice. This section combines its research result with teaching practice. I'm look forward to providing some useful enlightenment for teaching.
