Self-concept is an important field of psychological research. It can distinguish self and others, and regulate and control individual behaviors, So it has the motivation function and individual will function. College student is in the most important stage of individual mental developing, self-concept is related to other mental factors very close, their self-concept is on the way to perfection. Understanding the related theories of college students' self-concept can not only help to provide reference for their education, but also help college students know themselves a lot, improve themselves a lot. The study is based on this, and find that there are three problems about college students' self-concept in the past studies by reviewing the relative literature:first, structural problem of self-concept; second, self-concept research tool problem; third, college students' self-concept characteristics problem. So these problems can be resolved by the following studies: 1.Preparating college students self-concept adjectives scale.2.Exploring college students'explicit self-concept structure and self-concept characteristics.3.Exploring college students' implicit and explicit self-concept relationship. Some conclusions are drawn as following:1. Explicit self-concept can be divided into six parts, including faith-friendly,personal ambition,communication gregarious, individual temperament, personal charisma and Personal criticism.2. Adjective Self-concept Scale have a reasonable reliability and validity, which can be used for measuring explicit self-concept significantly.3.College students explicit self-concept have no significant difference in gender and major but in grades, and junior student is on the turning point of self-concept development.4.College students implicit self-concept was not significantly related to their explicit self-concept, and the correlation coefficient is low. which also proves that self-concept is made up of two parts, including implicit self-concept and explicit self-concept, they are relatively independent structure.
