The habitat selection by four pheasants(Syrmaticus ellioti,Lophura nycthemera,Pucrasia macrolopha,Bumbusicola thoracica) were studied with transect line methods in Guanshan National Nature Reserve from Qctober of 2009 to November of 2010.388 sites were investigated. Discrimination functional factors of four Pheasants habitat selection through Principal component analysis, comparative studied habitat selection of four Pheasants by Chi-Square statistic analysis,Kruskal-Wallis test, stepwise discriminant analysis. We calculated the spatial niches of four Pheasants also. There are some results as follow:Four pheasants located between 200 to 1400m in Guanshan National nature Reserve, all had relatively concentrated altitudinal distribution. Their vertical niches breadth were 0.46,0.83,0.64,0.44; the niche breath overlap index of Lophura nycthemera and Pucrasia macrolopha is the highest, and the niche breath overlap index of Bumbusicola thoracica and Pucrasia macrolopha is the lowest.17 ecological factors of four Pheasants by Principal component analysis, The results showed that:the main selection factors at the habitat selection of Syrmaticus ellioti were shrub coverage, herbage coverage, herbage specie, herbage quantity, the minor factors were vegetation type, slope orientation, shrub specie, shrub quantity, and the first 6 principal components explained 69.16% of the total variance among all habitat varibles; the main selection factors at the habitat selection of Lophura nycthemera were arbor specie, arbor quantity, the minor factors were herbage specie, herbage quantity, vegetation type, slope orientation, and the first 7 principal components explained 70.01%. the main selection factors at the habitat selection of Pucrasia macrolopha were arbor coverage, shrub quantity, arbor quantity, shrub heigh, the minor factors were shrub coverage, herbage coverage, herbage quantity, leaf litter coverage, and the first 7 principal components explained 85.50%. the main selection factors at the habitat selection of Bumbusicola thoracica were herbage coverage, herbage quantity, leaf litter coverage, the minor factors were arbor coverage, arbor specie, arbor quantity, vegetation type, slope orientation, shrub specie, distance to water, and the first 6 principal components explained 73.29%.Chi-square test showed that there have not significantly different at slope orientation among four Pheasants. The 15 quantitative factors though Kruskal-Wallis test, the results show that there were significantly different on elevation, slope degree, arbor coverage, shrub coverage, shrub quantity, shrub heigh, herbage coverage, herbage specie, herbage quantity, leaf litter coverage and distance to water. There had not significantly different on arbor quantity, arbor quantity and herbage heigh. The results of canonical discriminant coefficients show that, despite the overlap among sites used by four Pheasants, the Wilk's lambda indicated a highly significantly difference. We further studied show that, elevation, herbage quantity, shrub heigh, distance to water, shrub coverage, arbor coverage, slope degree, leaf litter coverage, shrub quantity, herbage coverage were the critical factors distinguishing habitat selection of the four Pheasants though discriminant analysis. Predicted accuracy of the model in classifying was 74.7%.
