A Study On The Philosophical Problems Of The Many-Worlds Interpretation

In this thesis, I focus on the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics and make an analysis of the philosophical problems of it, trying to find the deep philosophical meaning of the many-worlds interpretation. From all above, I could get a summary on the interpretation of quantum mechanics and make progress in it. As a result, I would try to give a direction to the contextual interpretation theory of quantum mechanics.The many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is one of many explainations of quantum mechanics. The idea of the many-worlds interpretation went back to H.Everett's PhD thesis in1957. Everett in his thesis interpreted the relative state of quantum mechanics in public. He innovatively started studying the combination of the quantum system and the mechanical classical system in cosmological views and brought them in the same cosmical system. He abandoned the idea of the second evolution progress which was held by Von Neumann and successfully resolved the Wavepacket Collapse problem. His research which didn't get enough attention was a vital thinking improvement in interpretation of quantum mechanics theory and have grown up to an influential many-worlds interpretation after advancing and spreading by B.de Witt, Squires,R.Griffiths, Jeffrey Barrett.The many-worlds interpretation makes great contribution to the development of philosophy of quantum mechanics. Firstly, the many-worlds interpretation builds a way to integrate experience and reason. Secondly, the many-worlds interpretation makes a selection for determinism which belongs to quantum mechanics philosophy and insists in the determinism. Thirdly, the many-worlds interpretation sets a solid foundation for advancing in interpretation of quantum mechanics which gains a reference--the interpretation theory of quantum mechanics--from these two aspects.This thesis has four parts. The first part expounds the interpretation theory of quantum mechanics and introduces the test difficulties, the narrower many-worlds interpretation and the broader many-worlds interpretation. The second part expounds the many-worlds interpretation and builds a way to integrate experience and reason. The third part expounds the many-worlds interpretation and makes a selection for determinism which belongs to quantum mechanics philosophy and insists in the determinism. The forth part, guided by and based on the researches on many-worlds interpretation, brings up the contextual interpretation theory of quantum mechanics and predicts its prospect.
