To construct wastewater treatment plant is the most effective and significant solution for water pollution control. So in recent years more and more wastewater treatment plants have been built up in our country. Henan finished the county class municipal wastewater treatment plant construction in china, and the wastewater treatment capability has been enhanced in recent years. But the higher running cost makes that many wastewater treatment plant can not working normal. So the paper investigated the actual operating condition of two Henan Province typical wastewater plants to save energy and reduce consumption. Major conclusion as follows:(1) In Henan province typical wastewater plants, the energy consumption of primary treatment unit system accounted 20% total energy consumption, the secondary treatment unit system accounted 60%, sludge disposal 20%.(2) Energy consumption of sewage upgrade unit in the primary treatment unit system accounted for the largest proportion, reaching 20% of the total plant treatment system consumption. So the pump lift must be determined by accurate calculating the head loss, estimation method would be not appropriate. Selection of the pump type should take speed pump and variable-speed pump with a combination to adapt to flow changes and energy saving.(3) The energy consumption of aeration systems accounted for the largest proportion in the total power consumption of sewage treatment plants, around 60 percent. Because the amount of wastewater of sewage factory fluctuation is big, therefore the aeration system design also needs to pay attention to the regulation band; In addition, the wastewater quality of sewage factory similar fluctuation is big too, so must use some method to avoidance the energy waste of aeration system, like the frequency conversion adjustment technology, according to dissolved oxygen demand control aeration and so on.(4) Energy consumption of sludge system mainly concentrates mainly concentrates surplus sludge pumps and sludge dehydrator two parts. The sludge pump with the sewage pump are similar in energy consumes. So the pump lift must be determined by accurate calculating the head loss. The sludge dehydrator controls as far as possible in the highly effective movement is advantageous to the sludge treatment energy conservation. And the sewage dehydration medicament amount usage amount is influenced by sludge quantity and moisture content, So the designers should accurately figure out sludge production,moisture content as far as reduce nonessential energy waste.
