Research status of delay composition at domestic and overseas, relative properties and influent factors were introduced comprehensively, which was applied minium-sillicon type as research object. Using moulds by self-designed, the combustion rate, temperature and output pressure were measured by characterization method of high speed photography technology, infrared temperature measurement technology and closed vessel pressure measurement technology at the experimental conditions, which supplies a certain theoretical basis for further analyzing combustion mechanism of delay composition and seeking for the inner factors of delay precision influence. It can draw the following conclusions through experiments:(1)The burning phenomenon and process of delay composition can be observed clearly by high speed imager, and the average velocity can be calculated at any period. The high speed photography technology is the important means of evaluating burning precision of delay composition.(2)Combustion temperature of delay composition was tested by two different kinds of fast response infrared thermo detectors, which obtained the curves of temperature-time, combining with high temperature state of burning products, the temperature change trend was analyzed.(3)Pressure change in the simulating closed vessel was measured by piezoelectric pressure sensor, which obtained the curves of temperature-pressure. Combining with the residue movement shot by high speed imager, the influence of residue movement on output pressure of sensor was analyzed.(4)The combustion law of silicon type delay composition was obtained by characterizing the combustion rate, temperature and output pressure in the experimental condition, within a certain range, increasing pressing density of delay composition can be helpful to improve delay composition precision, if the density is too small, it can happen easily irregular jumping combustion. The raising rate of combustion temperature is quicker than declining rate. When the temperature is higher than 1100℃, the temperature volatility is volatile relatively, but when the temperature decreases below 1100℃, the attenuation of temperature would be a relatively stable; with the delay composition weight increasing, the output pressure and raising time increase too.
