CNC(Computerized Numerical Control) technology is the key technique to achieve the upgrading of traditional equipment manufacturing industry and the modernizing of manufacturing enterprises. Modern manufacturing industry needs more and more applications of CNC technology and functional requirements of CNC system are becoming more diverse, showing two aspects——open architecture and network. The advantages of fieldbus-based CNC structure make it become the mainstream in the structure of present mediate/high-end CNC system, which represents the trend of open and network CNC system.Field bus and network communication technology within fieldbus-based CNC system and its applications are main contents of this thesis.Firstly, the platform architecture of fieldbus-based CNC system is introduced and the whole platform is divided into the field-bus device level and local-area network level from the functional point of view; then the architecture of fieldbus-based CNC system is illustrated from the perspective of the hardware platform and software platform respectively.On one hand, communication technology of the field-bus device level is researched and communication requirements of the field-bus device level are analyzed, then the communication platform is divided into the device driver layer, the fieldbus function layer and the user interface layer from the functional perspective, which is designed and implemented respectively.On the other hand, communication technology of the local-area network level is researched and communication requirements of the local-area network level are analyzed, then the upper-lower architecture of the communication platform is introduced and client/server communication model is adopted, the design features of local-area network communication are introduced and communication technology of the local-area network level is implemented at last.Finally, applications of communication technology of fieldbus-based CNC system are showed by two examples respectively. The first example about the application of communication technology on the field-bus device level is the project of the high-speed CNC system of a camshaft grinder developed by the HNC Company and the Changsha Yipai Company, introducing the background of the project and the process of communication on the field-bus device level; The second example about the application of communication technology on the local-area network level is the project of the upper-lower system of HNC-8 CNC system developed by the HNC Company, describing the implementation of communication on the local-area network level and the process of simulation.
