Undoubtedly, the breakout is the most detrimental event associated with the continuous casting. According to many papers, sticker breakout accounts about 65%~80% all kind of the total breakouts. To decrease or avoid breakout, there are usually two ways, the first is to research the form theory on sticker breakout deeply, so as to the producing conditions on sticker of elimination; the second is to develop thin slab continuous casting breakout prediction system, which is to detect the breakout symptom in the mold, then take certain measures such as reducing the casting speed. Because the thin slab continuous casting breakout prediction system of DANIELI is high missed samples and distort rate, in this paper the new thin slab continuous casting breakout prediction system provides the basis.The paper is to some interpretation on the form theory and character analysis of sticker breakout, then I present the torn meniscus is the directly cause resulted in sticker breakout. In addition, I still explain the factors caused by sticker in the slab casting, for example casting temperature,steel chemistry,the function of slag,mold level,casting speed,oscillation equipment,mold taper and prevention measures. And the breakout shell is analysed, a result of breakout occurs the meniscus wave and thickness of shell relations. Taking the DANIELI thin slab continuous casting breakout prediction system for reference. Through the temperature data of FDA to process of continuous casting mould H2 occurred sticker alarm and sticker breakout alarm analysis. And to the propagation speed of shell rupture, thermocouple of warming faster and cooling speed analysis.The breakout prediction of essence is identify with the breakout waveform, to thermocouple of warming faster and cooling speed, to the horizontal, vertical thermocouples direction temperature alarm, combine the steel grade, casting speed, slab width and thickness, for the accurately alarm.Through the breakout prediction decision the casting process is occurring sticker and sticker breakout, needed decision condition as follows:(1) When the sticker is occur, the mould thermocouple temperature is rising and the front row temperature of thermocouple will drop in time, then the down row temperature of thermocouple will rise. Temperature of thermocouple rise and drop rate is one of the decision conditions.(2) When the sticker is occur, due to the influence of casting speed, the shell rupture will move towards to down and transfer to both sides. The shell rupture of the horizontal transfer rate for casting speed, about the 0.5~0.8 times. The shell rupture of the vertical transfer rate for casting speed of 1.0-1.5 times.Therefore, the development of the software is still adopting logic prediction model, the ratio of shell rupture propagation speed and casting speed, and when the sticker is occur, the thermocouples warming and cooling rate to analyze, to shell rupture of the spread rate and thermocouple warming and cooling rate for decision basis. Prove the logic prediction model is still core of breakout prediction system, the core of the system for mode further develop and perfect the laid theoretical basis.
