Research On Environmental Carrying Capacity Of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration

With the rapid development of social economy, natural disasters occurred frequently, sustainable development is becoming the topic of social development,and the foundation of sustainable development is coordinated development between environment and economy. Evironmental carrying capacity (ECC) is just a key indicator to measure whether the humansocial activities, espeeially the economic activities, are coordinated with environment, and it's a usual concept to describe the limitation on regional development.Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Urban Agglomeration is one of the important urban agglomeration in central part of China. In December2007, it was approved as a national experimental zone for comprehensive supporting reform to build a "double-type(resource saving and environmentally friendly) society". Chang-Zhu-Tan Urban Agglomeration is stepping into a new stage of development. As the growth pole of Hunan economic society, GDP in Chang-Zhu-Tan Urban Agglomeration reached6716.55billion yuan in2010, up15.55%over the same period of last year. With the rapid development of the economy over the past20years,however, the pressure on resources and environment in Chang-Zhu-Tan Urban Agglomeration has become ever more serious.In order to accelerate the development of "double-type society", we must keep a benign circle and sustainable development in regional ecological environmental,must keep the exploitation and construction within the evironmental carrying capacity. So mastering and analysising ECC in Chang-Zhu-Tan Urban Agglomeration has become an imminent task.The article firstly proceeded the theory research for ECC, put emphasis on the relevant research achievements of recent ten years, summarized them according to the definition,design of evaluation index system and quantification method. On the basis of the fundamental study, this paper constructed evaluation index system and comprehensive evaluation model, calculated the weight of each index by entropy weight method, analyzed the status quo and the time-space variations of ECC in Chang-Zhu-Tan Urban Agglomeration from2002-2010, and the development of "double-type society in Chang-Zhu-Tan Urban Agglomeration were analyzed by SWOT analytic method. Based on above analysis, the article ended with the policy suggestions about improving the ECC of Chang-Zhu-Tan Urban Agglomeration guided by development targets to improve regional ECC, promote regional sustainable development and the building of "double-type society"...
