| Objective:To Comprehensively evaluate the improvement of clinical symptoms and the effect of index of thyroid function with syndrome differentiation and treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine..Methods:60 cases patients treated in endocrine department of Guang' anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese medical science during June 2010 to April 2011 were included in this reaserch meeting hyperthyroidism diagnostic criteria and the three types differentiation standard of TCM.The patients were randomly divided into two groups:the control group and the treatment group.There were 15 cases in the control group and 45 cases in the treatment group. The control group was treated with Western medicine and proprietary Chinese medicine (JiaKangning capsule). While the treatment group was treated with Western medicine, proprietary Chinese medicine (JiaKangning capsule) and corresponding decoctions. The treatment last 6 month. In the first three months, We observed and recorded thyroid function index, TCM symptoms scores, western medicine hyperthyroidism symptoms scores and other related material every months,and we also recorded those material in the 6th month.Then we used SPSS 17.0 statistical software to analysis the related data to evaluate the efficacy and the side effects during different groups.Results:The control group had 15 cases, age ranged from 30 to 74, mean age was 43.73±14.43, male:female= 1:4; The treatment group had 45 cases, age ranged from 16 to 67, the average age was 40.38±11.44, male:female= 1:5.4. Totally, the maximum age was 74, the minimum age was 16, average age was 41.22±12.21. The age concentrated distributed from 35 to 50, male:female= 1:5.comparison of the recovery rate of thyroid function;when treatment after three months, the recovery rate of thyroid function between the treatment group and the control group, the treatment group and the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05). when treatment after six months, the recovery rate of thyroid function between the treatment group and the control group showed a statistically significant difference (P<0.05), the treatment group's recovery rate higher than it in the control group..the comparison between three TCM syndrome groups and the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05). The results suggested TCM play a key role in controlling the thyroid function. What is more, regulatory function become more and more obviously with prolonging the treatment period.comparison of comprehensive effect; when treatment after three months, the effective rate between the treatment group and the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05), when treatment after six months, the effective rate between the treatment group and the control group showed a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05), the treatment group's effective rate (87%) higher than it in the control group (67%),the comparison between three TCM syndrome groups and control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05).comparison of TCM symptoms curative effect; when treatment after three months, the effective rate between the treatment group and the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05), when treatment after six months, the effective rate between the treatment group and the control group showed a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05), the treatment group's effective rate (87%) higher than it in the control group (73%),the comparison between three TCM syndrome groups and control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05). comparison of TCM symptoms integral; when treatment after three months, the scores between the treatment group and the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05), when treatment after six months, the scores between the treatment group and the control group showed a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05), the treatment group's scores higher than it in the control group.the comparison between three TCM syndrome groups and control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05).comparison of hyperthyroidism index curative effect; when treatment after three months, the effective rate between the treatment group and the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05), when treatment after six months, the effective rate between the treatment group and the control group showed a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05), the treatment group's effective rate (98%) higher than it in the control group (93%),the comparison between three TCM syndrome groups and control group showed no significant difference (P> 0.05). The results suggested that patients of the treatment groups were treated with syndrome differentiation and treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine from the beginning.They were treated according to patient's condition and given the corresponding decoctions. so the result showed good efficacy on the treatment group. comparison of hyperthyroidism index integral; when treatment after three months, the scores between the treatment group and the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05), when treatment after six months, the scores between the treatment group and the control group showed a statistically significant difference (P< 0.05), the treatment group's scores higher than it in the control group.the comparison between three TCM syndrome groups and control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05). It showed that TCM could really improve hyperthyroidism clinical symptoms, and efficacy would more and more obvious with prolonging the treatment period.The comparison of safety index:the treatment group and the control group all appeared abnormal liver function, low white cell count and high platelet counts,but the comparison between treatment group and the control group showed no significant difference (P> 0.05). While the comparison among four groups also showed no significant difference (P> 0.05).The rate of hypothyroidism showed no significant differences between the treatment group and the control group (P> 0.05), this phenomenon showed herbal medicine could played a conspicuous role in regulating the abnormal state.Conclusion:(1) The syndrome differentiation and treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine could improve thyroid function, the clinical symptoms and signs and the quality of life.(2) The syndrome differentiation and treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine could reduced incidence rate of abnormal liver function, low white cell count, high platelet counts and hypothyroidism.(3) The syndrome differentiation and treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine could adjust decoctions as the illness changed,so it could moresuitable for clinical application.(4) Because of the small sample sizes and the relatively short time, the impact of thyroid function in the long-term and recurrent state needed further clinical research. |
