Objective:To investigate the expression of CD68and VEGF, and the association ofCD68/VEGF expression with clinicopathological characteristics in endometrial aden-ocarcinoma.Methods:1.20cases of normal endometrium (NE) tissues,20cases of endometrialatypical hyperplasia (EAH) tissues and40cases of endometrial carcinoma (EAC)tissues paraffin-embedded specimens were collected from the Maternal and ChildHealth Hospital of Jiangxi Province Department of Pathology in January2008-2010December. Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression levelof CD68protein and VEGF protein.2. The association of CD68and VEGF expressionwith clinical stage, histological grade, myometrial invasion, lymphatic metastasis andother clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed by SPSS18.0software.Results:1. CD68protein can express in NE, EAH and EAC tissues. The rate of CD68protein expression in EAC was considerably higher than that in EAHtissues(P<0.05).The rate of CD68protein expression in EAH tissues wasconsiderably higher than that in NE tissues (P<0.05). The level expression of CD68protein was relevant with clinical stage, pathological grade and lymphatic metastasisin endometrial adenocarcinoma(P<0.05), while the expression of CD68had norelationship with age and myometrial invasion (P>0.05).2. VEGF protein was detected in EAC and EAH tissues, in addition to NE. Therate of VEGF protein expression in EAC was considerably higher than that in EAHtissues (P<0.05). The rate of VEGF protein expression in EAH was considerablyhigher than that in NE tissues (P<0.05). The level expression of VEGF protein wasrelevant with clinical stage and lymphatic metastasis in endometrialadenocarcinoma(P<0.05), while the expression of CD68had no relationship with age, pathological grade and myometrial invasion (P>0.05). 3.There was a positive correlation between CD68and VEGF protein inendometrial adenocarcinoma. Conclusions:The results suggested that CD68and VEGF over-expression in endometrialadenocarcinoma was relevant. CD68-positive cells that know as tumor-associatedmacrophages (TAMs) and VEGF may be related to the process of occurrence anddevelopment of endometrial adenocarcinoma. TAMs may promote tumor growth andmetastasis by increasing expression of VEGF.
