This article, through the deconstruction and comparison of Fugue writing stills in four Fugue Cycle composed by four representative composer in 20th century - Hindemith's "Lotus Tanalis", Shostakovich's "24 Preludes and Fugues", Shchedrin's "24 Preludes and Fugues", Slonimsky's "24 Preludes and Fugues", explores the inheritance and innovation of Fugue in Fugue Cycle of the 20th century.The construction of the thesis:Foreword, summarize the formation and the evolution of Fugue and Fugue Cycle. The second part is the principal part, including two chapters. The first chapter is divided into four sections, respectively, discussing the four composers and four Fugue Cycle's creative ideas, comparing the difference of four Fugue Cycles in style and form; The second chapter is the kernel of this article:researching and analyzing, respectively, the subject, the answer, the countersubject, the exposition, the connecting part (or episode), the development, the recapitulation, harmony model, overall structure and other aspects. The last part is the conclusion. On the basis of the content discussed in the preceding chapters, it summarizes the possession and development of Fugue of Fugue Cycle in the 20th century, in pitch, rhythm, structure and other pattern created by Bach...
