The theory of Multiple Intelligences(MI for short)was put forward by an American psychologist, Howard Gardner, in 1983. It greatly influenced the education of many countries in the world. The research and application of this theory in teaching practice mushroomed all over the world. Based on the analysis of the history and the status concerning MI, the thesis systematically illustrates the application of MI in the design of teaching methods used in teaching Chinese in universities.Cooperative learning arose in the early 20th century. It was used in the 1970's in the United States as a teaching theory and strategy system. This strategy is used in heterogeneous or homogeneous study groups in its basic form. The system is dynamic in how it uses the interaction between student and teacher and student and student to promote learning. Assessment is evaluated in group performance, so the students work to achieve a common goal.Since the Thai students are very vivacious they have no interested in Chinese writing. This research provides methodology used in applying multiple intelligences and cooperative learning techniques to Thailand university Chinese teaching. It also provides discussion on the processes and effects of cooperative learning based on multiple intelligences and offers some reference for the teaching of Chinese language in practice. Multiple intelligences and cooperative learning present themselves as a key to a new way of productive and resourceful learning methodology. In this thesis, the theory of multiple intelligences and cooperative learning combine to make a strong theoretical approach to learning. These theories have been applied during my duration at the Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University, Thailand. These theories created my research goals as they were put into practice with my junior of English and Chinese students.
