'Mei A Mei B'refers to a regular pattern that is formed by two'Mei's plus two monosyllables or words. As far as formation is concerned ,the essay believes that'Mei'has two functions ,if AB is noun,'Mei'is a verb, but if AB is a verb or adjective,'Mei'is an adverb .The meaning of'Mei'is don't exit or have'or'something or state don't exit'.But in'Mei A Mei B'pattern, its meaning will change according to different patterns .Mostly, AB is a joint two syllable words, it may be of the same meaning, but sometimes ,may be of the opposite meaning. In this pattern, AB should be in its original or tone order.As for sentence rules,'Mei A Mei B'is a parallel structure, its function is of noun, verb, and adjective. So it can play different roles in the sentences, such as subject, predicate, attribute, adverbial modifier or complement.Has different meanings according to the different combinations. There are six combinations altogether.①'Mei Chi Mei He'pattern .It means'no A no B no….'②'Mei Duo Mei Shao'pattern. It means'there is no A no B, but C (C is the middle point).③'Mei Ri Mei Ye'pattern. It means'no matter A or B, or AB are the same.④'Mei Qing Mei Zhong'pattern. It means'no matter A or B'.⑤'Mei Xin Mei Fei'pattern. Its meaning is related with the implied meaning of A and B, and usually has some negative implications.⑥'Mei Bian Mei Yan'pattern. It means'no AB at all, or'no AB completely'. According to the analysis above. We can summerize'Mei A Mei B'pattern's meaning as follows: [+negative] [+moderate] [-distinguish] [-sense of propriety].As for the use of the pattern,'Mei A Mei B'pattern is very subjective, it can reflect the speaker's position, attitude and emotion, it is also a highly purified and meaningful phrase pattern which can reflect the economical rules of conversation; In addition, this pattern is based on the combination of two syllables, that enables it to have the feature of openness and productiveness.
